Welcome to the Adult Carers Area
A Carer is someone who provides unpaid support to a family member or friend who cannot manage without their help. This may be because of an illness, disability, mental/emotional ill health or substance misuse.
They are sometimes referred to as family, unpaid or informal carers.
Our Services for Adult Carers (age 25 +) include
- 1:1 time with your Outreach Worker – either in your own home or somewhere convenient to you
- Information about available services and support to access these services eg respite and breaks
- Information about Carers’ Rights – eg Carers Allowance, Carers’ Assessments, Employment Rights.
- Advocacy - someone to speak on your behalf, or help you to have a voice when dealing with agencies and services eg. Social Services
- Local support Groups and Trips.
- Carers Emergency Card
We also encourage Carers to let us know their experiences of caring, the services they receive and how they can be improved. We then ensure that Local and National decision makers (eg Social Services and Health) listen to these comments. We are committed to working with all services to improve the support available for Carers.
